-Introduction-
Speaking of Tokyo sightseeing, Asakusa is a popular tourist spot visited by tourists not only in Japan but also from all...
over the world. The reason why Asakusa attracts many people may be that you can feel the glory of the Edo period or enjoy the vibrant atmosphere of Tokyo downtown. If you walk with a cutout illustration, you may also find new attractions. There are various theories about the place name Asakusa. One is a theory that expresses the characteristics of the land where grass was thick, the other is the word transcends the sea, umiwokoeru in Ainu. This place name first appeared as a record in the Azuma mirror during the Kamakura period. It is written that in 1811, Miya carpenters from Asakusa, Musashi were invited by Shogunate to build Tsuruoka Hachimangu Shrine as a symbol of the canter of politics at the time. This indicates that many skilled craftsmen lived there. Asakusa was a lively land where many people gathered since ancient times. Because it is located near the Sumida river estuary, so transportation is good and it was on a slightly elevated area, there was little flooding of the river. In the Edo era, Asakusa developed as a center of economy and culture because rice granaries were set up and Fudasa that lends cash backed by rice appeared.
